“My paintings are quiet, and I try to capture moments of stillness…”
I have been drawing since I could hold a pencil, and my entire life has been about creativity in different forms. Old houses are renovated and recreated, gardens are created and nurtured, from fabric I create everything from clothes to lampshades, clay allows me to create sculptures, I create tastes and textures in the kitchen and create stories in my head…
Pastel paintings are the thread that runs through all of this, and chalk pastels have been my primary medium for over 20 years. I am particularly tactile, and feel connected to my work by using my fingers to mix, soften or blend the soft, powdery pastels. With pastels I mix the colours on my canvas, and although I create a muted, almost monochromatic scheme, there are subtle nuances which whisper gently to the viewer.

My art training was classical and included subjects like anatomy and the theory of colour, and these have always provided a solid base which I could build on over the years. It is said that figurative work often portrays aspects of the artist as a person, and my reflective nature can be glimpsed in the women who quietly sit in a vague landscape with birds, butterflies and flowers symbolizing her empathetic, spiritual connection with mother nature.
My paintings are quiet, and I try to capture moments of stillness…
During my long professional career I have tutored and helped others realise their artistic dreams, and from time to time give classes for those who are as passionate about wanting to learn as I still am!
I’ve been privileged to exhibit at many prestigious galleries and events, and am forever grateful and humbled by all those, from all over the world, who collect my work, thus allowing me to continue my art journey.
